    I only shoot subs through my 22, if I don't mind making noise I'll use 17hmr.

    17hmr is an easy 150m varmint cartridge 22lr is not, if you need the distance then 17hmr is the easy choice.
    Unless you are shooting a lot that ammo cost becomes an issue.
