Angry Taking Brake on and off

Can you take a directional brake on and off without losing index? I have been thinking of building a kimber Mountain ascent copy from a montana but was thinking of picking up another Brake of Kiwi Greg to use instead of the factory radial brake. I would like the option of removing the brake at times.

The reason is I brought a MT ascent here in the USA cheap and it is awesome. With the brake I was able to spot my own shots which I have never been able to do which is nice when hunting solo alot.

If you had an indexing nut it would be possible, wouldn't reccommend a crush washer as they would wear out fairly quickly.

Machine the brake so it’s just a fraction off being perfectly true, over time it’ll line up, then eventually go past. But you need to be taking it on and off hundreds of times fairly tight to notice a shift. Nipping it up hand tight occasionally won’t drastically change its orientation

This is what I use. Also have a suppressor adapter for it.

If it's not a first round hit you need to practice more

I was looking at a self timing brake and then someone was selling a Dean Maisey Vari max brake. It is a radial brake but certainly works well and you can turn it on and off and keep same POI.

The current factory thread from kimber is rather minuscule . We usually rethread them to 1/2-28 or 14x1 depending on the barrel profile. The back of the shoulder could also be slightly touched up to index the brake.

A spot of weld would fix the matter.
