Hey fellas I need a bit of guidance of some new rings
I just upgraded the scope on my 308 bush pig from a Leupold freedom 4-12x40 being a 1” tube using Talley lows to vx6 2-12x42 being a 30mm tube.
I will obviously need to buy new talley 30mm rings but I was wondering if lows would be ok or if I would need mediums.
Figure surely a couple guys running similar set ups here

I had a T3x with a Leupold 40mm and Talley Extra Low Rings and there was a good amount of clearance. I'd guess that Talley Low Rings would be OK, but that comes with no guarantees.

I've currently got a set of Talley ultralights for a T3 that had my loopy vx5 3 to 15 X 44 in them and they were on the money for height.Quote:

do the measurements mate, you should be able to figure it out as all the scope/rings dimensions are available.

I'm running talley mediums with both a VX5 and VX6, the cheek weld works best for me there
Buy some plasticene and plop it on top of the receiver where the rings will go with the scope on top and make sure the bolt does not touch the scope as you operate it. Measure the height and bingo
A VX6 on a bush pig is one heck of an upgrade!
Identify your target beyond all doubt because you never miss (right?) and I'll be missed.
Thanks for the input lads, I popped into reloaders today and seen David. He popped a vx5 with a 44m objective onto some talley low and xtra low rings for comparison.

That's interesting. I bet a lot of people have scopes that are mounted too high for a Tikka stock.
I mounted an older scope on a new rifle today and it became apparent that the length of the scope, or at least the tube is an important factor in getting clearance from Talley rings. Just about got away with it :cool:
Somthing I didn’t take into account was the suppressor [emoji2357] using super low rings without using one would be perfect however it my situation it makes the bottom of the objective sit lower than the top of the suppressor which means I see the suppressor through the scope on low power which I don’t like, even on higher power it shows a blur. Can you just swap the x-lows out for lows? Good looking rig
"Don't Panic Mr Mainwaring". When I first set up my bush gun, I was surprised to see my suppressor in the scope. You get used to it and it doesn't cause any practical issues.
The same using low power scopes you see the barrel.

I swapped the rings and just went straight to medium. It’s a much better fit. On 2 power I can just see the suppressor a little . On 3 I cannot see it.Quote:
