    Talley rings on a Tikka

Hi all, clearance question here. going to mount a 50mm glass to a tikka 7mm 08 and want it low but obviously not touching
going with Talley direct mounts (30mm) and unsure of the ring height to go for ive read
all the usual manufacturers recomendationms....but wonder if they air on the side of caution re clearance.
does anyone have any direct experience here?

Talley lows should do it. You can use extra lows with the likes of a VX6 3-18x44.

pretty rifle dependent but i would go medium myself have 42/44 scopes mounted in lows and almost need medium's on my bergara which is pretty different obviously to a tikka profile

Experience. What you get just after you needed it.

Lows should be fine. Think I even got away with ultra lows once. Depends on how you had the eye relief. Scope too far back didn't work with the ultra lows . But was fine how I needed it, being slightly forward.

I'm going to try medium talleys with a 40mm objective to see if I get less suppressor in the sight picture.

Got to be careful with that as it will end up to abit high and trying to get a proper check weld will be abit of a prick and depending on the scope and the magnification range lower mags it wont make bugger all difference having it 4-6mm higher

I have a athlon 2-12 on my bergara 308 and at 2x i have the suppressor in the sight picture but its no issue have to go up to 4-5x to get no suppressor in sight picture

Get Talley lows any higher and you will need a cheek riser

Yeah, we'll see. It's only a few mm difference

Get some plasticene, make 2 blobs and place on top of receiver then put your scope on top and squeeze down so still got 2mm of clearance for scope and bolt then measure height.

These work out good. Only 3.5mm higher than lows and no suppressor in sight picture on 3x

All my tikkas run mediums with 44 and 56mm scopes as I find that's the best cheek weld for me
