Ok thought might be a good idea to have a shooting thread for a change....do any of you guys still tape the muzzle when hunting or tape your suppressor?

Tape my 270 in the bush definately
Yep, tape the muzzle when raining, shoot through it no problem. Water is incompressible, hate to blow up a barrel but possibly theoretical.
Suppressed rifle, no need. You have the world's largest rain diverter attached to the pointy end
Yes I do, I’ve just got a PLB so I can get helicoptered out if my gun blows up so might not in the future.
I’ve mostly shot through it but have pealed it back if I have time so I can use it again.
Remember the 7 “P”s; Pryor Preparation Prevents Piss Poor Performance.
I do if out for a multi day mission or if its raining
Bare barrel yes almost always. Suppressor no, no need.
Except fiordland, I taped my suppressor then because it was so bloody wet haha
Tape my suppressor same as did barrel for same reason...its NOT for rain...its for twigs n crap..and if you do the unthinkable and poke barrel into dirt...you dont do a core sample....
With a suppressor, no. Without one I always tape the muzzle. It not only stops water but if you poke the barrel into the ground in a fall it stops it getting clogged with dirt. Also stops loose debris falling down the barrel when you are pushing through the bush. Shooting with shit in the barrel will damage it.
I have done a lot of testing on the range shooting with tape over the muzzle and it makes zero difference to POI.
Experience. What you get just after you needed it.
When hunting without fail, with or without a suppressor. If doing pest control, generally not as it takes too much time and is no point after the first shot gets followed up again and again.
Yup, always have and always will. Tape normal barrel, suppressors and muzzle brakes. Keeps the rain out, and the debris. Things like dirt, sticks and even snow don't belong up there
