Plenty of people tape the muzzle, there's no need to remove it prior to taking a shot.

Keeps water out, also keeps debris out, agree with above no need to remove. Usually have some electrical tape wrapped around my stock always handy

I find it funny that if you were to ask the same question to a US group they would all tell you to put a condom on the end of your barrel.

Yes they do...ask the question in a facebook group etc and you will see pictures of condoms over the end of barrels secured with rubber bands etc..
Im not sure who would think that was a better idea than tape but most american's will advocate to use a condom and not tape. Strange eh.

Other beginners learn as well when you ask questions, bud.

I used to tape over my rifle barrel, but don't much any more. Usually I'm carrying something with a suppressor or a muzzle brake on the end slung barrel downwards (AR15).

No need to take tape off.

Another bonus is after a big hill climb you can use the tape on your muzzle to keep the panting down

Tape over the muzzle is also handy if you fall and jam it into the dirt.

Saves having to go looking for a cleaning rod cause you can't get the 308 dirt plug out of the end of your Tikka, and also that munted look afterwards if you fire it while it's still blocked. I used to cut a few spare bits and stick them on the fore end near the sling swivel.
