Thread: Technical suppressor questions for suppressor pros

If one was putting together a PRS type rifle and wanted it to be suppressed. Would you use an over barrel or muzzle forward?
My thinking is if you’re shooting 10+ shot strings, the over barrel will retain heat in the forward part of the barrel as the whole lot cools. When the next string is fired, the forward portion of the barrel under the suppressor would be warmer than the rear. Could this temperature difference result in accuracy detriment? Heat=expansion, so if one part of the barrel was hotter could it create an uneven bore diameter? I know I’m talking in almost immeasurable tolerances but I’d there any substance to the theory?
Muzzle forward should therefor isolate the residual heal forward of the bore, causing linear barrel expansion and contraction between strings?
