Be sure that the mag feeds OK. The factory original 22-250 mag lips look different from the 308/243 mag.
When you take one apart you will notice that the magazine cut out is offset so as to increase the thickness of the material on the side of the ejection port and therefore increase the rigidity of the action.
They came as a match rifle in a target stock, also as a single shot, and even in an aluminium/ wood chassis as a tactical rifle with a 10 rounds single column mag! ( I only saw one of these!)
There are a bit tricky to bed with that rear screw going the opposite way of the front screw.
Other than that there are an allright base to build a good gun.
Those Gun City M55 magazines are okay at a pinch, but they aren't as nicely finished as the original Tikka mags (IMO). And at $200.00 a pop.....
This guy here (he's a Finish Dealer, but can ship to NZ), stocks proper Tikka M55 mags - in both 5 and 10 shot.

I had one in 7-08 left handed, shot really well. Another rifle I should not have sold
I'm drawn to the mountains and the bush, it's where life is clear, where the world makes the most sense.
magazines are available in the UK. Don't need a permit to import.
Looks like an M595 to me too, action and bolt are both of different construction. M55 sporter is a nicer gun to carry around than the 595 equivalent.
Just going to take a look around the next bend...
Hi Norsk,
Yes it looked like that but I am pretty sure it was on a las 55. I will probably talk to the gunsmith who had it around Christmas .
One can see the inspiration for a Sako trg! :-)
