2 questions for the knowledgeable ones, are these shite kit ? The very cheap suppressors being offered on Temu as “oil filters”
And is a suppressor something that would require a permit to import these days ?

My Gunsmith gave me a mono-core Chinese suppressor to test out with big subs. It is actually quieter than a well known NZ brand suppressor of greater capacity
Not so much interested in the centre fire stuff for obvious reasons was once right next to a Chinese import centrefire suppressor that did an excellent impression of a grenade, but most of the cheap Chinese 22 suppressors on the market here seem to be ok for the pressures they operate at, I only ask as Temu were offering 95 percent discount on the 22 suppressors at $3 approx but is it legal.
Suppressors are now classed as a gun part, rather than a gun accessory, so you’d need a (free for now) import permit to stay onside with the law. It may make it through customs fine if imported under the ‘oil filter’ cover, but can’t really see it being worth the risk.
Cheers for that I’m not too worried about it then certainly not interested in doing anything dodgy like trying to import as oil filter when it’s clearly a suppressor, combined with aligning permits and the delays you experience in getting them to take advantage of the discounts on offer makes it more hassle than it’s worth, of course that’s what the authorities wanted all along death of the sport by bureaucracy
The legal aspect worries me more than anything. It's a firearm part, and could, at least in theory, see you charged with importing without a permit. If the package is x-rayed, it won't look like an oil filter - I'm sure customs is a little more switched on than that. Doesn't matter how cheap, it isn't worth it.
Edit - @StrikerNZ nailed it before me.
listed as filters on ali as well
buy one and let us know how it goes
@perrynm - that is quite the first post... welcome to the forum! Head on over to the new member introductions and tell us a bit about yourself, and what you expect to give to and gain from being a member here.
cheers mate will do
If a suppressor is classed as a firearm "part" what about scopes, rails or mounts?
All connect to a firearm, but is not a "functional" part essential for it to work.
Old school.so is a screw by that logic. A scope or a scope mount has no other purposes so is an accessory
