    Thanks Leupold!

About 3 - 4 weeks ago I posted a Leupold VX7 3.5-14x50 back to the US for a repair job. I had stripped a thread under the parallax cap which did not effect the mechanical function of the scope, it just meant I couldn't screw the cap down tight after adjusting for parallax. Obviously stripped because I was bit rough (said the sailor to the nun...). Anyway the VX7 is an old discontinued line from leupold going back about 12 or more years (from memory). Imagine my surprise when in the mail yesterday was a brand spanker VX5 3-15x44 HD CDS ZL. Now that is a company that goes above and beyond. Thankyou very much Leupold.

My new dilemma is do I keep it and put it on my 260 rem and sell the swaro 2.4-12x50 currently on it (or sell the Leupold)???

Last year the illuminated reticle in my vx3 stopped working, this may or may not have been because I tried to “fix” it. Had it sent back to Leupold for no questions asked repair. Had to pay local shop for freight which was fair enough, at the time I had an old vx1 1-4x20 with dull lenses missing turret seals and dents that made me think someone had tried to adjust for windage using a rock.

I figured I might as well get my moneys worth on freight and add that to the package, message to Leupold was that I would like it serviced and I was happy to pay accordingly.

2 months later I only get one of my scopes back, it was the vx3 which had been repaired.

The vx1 was gone but in its place was a brand new vx3 1.5-5x20, at no cost and no question.

That is the way to treat customers.

Good stuff Ginga. Id be interested in the process you used to send your scope away. Ive got a VX11c 2-7 that doesn’t seem to hold zero . I did ask at the local shop about the process but the guy seemed a bit “ unkeen”.
    Any info be appreciated, cheers

Just to balance all the praise.

A couple of years ago I sent an older 8-25 to them for a turrets change.
Rang thru (long long wait, I was 15th in line, your call us important etc etc) to discuss my requirements. Wanted Mk4 turrets and windage dial marked L-0-R as per my NXS. Yes that was no problem. Also discussed servicing the scope. He told me they treated all scopes coming in as though they were warranty returns ie my scope would get the full going over. All good then, I didn't bother cleaning the very dirty lenses.

Followed up with an email detailing what had been agreed to over the phone.

Sent scope off with note referencing the tech and my requirements.

After a couple of months my scope returned. Wrong windage dial marking, filthy lenses. WTF.
They did send me a replacement windage dial pronto when I contacted them.

The whole exercise was quite expensive, shipping there, custom shop cost, return shipping. And then to get a scope back with filthy lenses, what servicing do they actually do?
