Note the end of the suppressor. Been used on short magnums for several years and never maintained really. If you dont pull them apart after every outing the baffles soon seize up.
I was surprised I hit the deer. Gave me a hell of a fright.

Do you think it's just crud build-up internally or is there a chance the end got plugged with dirt?
Not sure. A few shots ago I noticed crystals in it after it got a soaking so I ran a pull through through it to make the holes in the baffles round again.Quote:

If the muzzle got plugged, there is a possibility that the base of the suppressor could have belled or rounded as a result of the pressure. This happened to a steel prototype I had on a 303 in South Africa. This made the body of the suppressor off axis with the barrel. If you decide to replace the baffle, get the whole thing checked for concentricity with the bore, or the new baffle could suffer a similar fate.

What is it, DPT? Actually looks to be a pretty benign failure mode for that particular type of product, if it is a DPT good ad for their gear. I've seen a Gunworks that got the muzzle plugged split the side of the outer tube along the whole length, and quite a few of from (Mumble Rifle) that blew the whole ends clean off the cans - shut the range down, make safe, go collect the bits, tell off the shooter for using excessively big projectiles haha.
Reminds me of the time at Brian's when we put the wrong threaded suppressor on one of the 280's it blew off and went through Wheramai's chronograph shades and wires .;)

Waitaki cans and Gunworks over barrel suppressors. Have put about 5000 rounds through both no problems. Can’t dismantle to clean so they accumulate carbon inside but still keep working. Never heard about cleaning suppressors until reading on here, sod that for a pass time.
In professional and Defence circles they are treated as a consumable. Your wallet has probably been in debt to your suppressor for a few years now, and the suppressor has decided its time to reset the ledger:D
How quiet it can be with 223?
similar to .22lr if you get really serious and keep adding baffles you can get the muzzle blast down to nothing but you still cant eliminate the sonic boom/crack from projectile itself unless you go subsonic....then you are basically bowhunting.Quote:
