    Thermal imager help

    Hi guys,
I’m looking to buy a ‘basic’ handheld thermal imager. Looking at what’s on the market and available now I’m considering the Guide IR510 Nano N2 and the Pulsar Axion key XM30. Does anyone have any experience with these models and/or feedback on them? Or any other suggested models to look at? It’s main use would be to spot deer out to about 500m on private land, not bothered about capturing images, WIFI to a phone to view would be nice but not essential. Max budget is 2.5k-ish.
    TIA
    Simon

    I tried two
    Both faulted
But it was more the view window
Was like looking into a box
Hard to explain but better options out there

Have the Guide IR510 Nano N2. Can detect rabbits to about 200M, and deer to an easy 1000M (deer farm behind us, so plenty of targets to see).
Pretty basic, but everything just seems to work as expected.

In the price range I don't think you are going to get much better to be honest.

Or sleep at night and put the money in to a good pair of binos and boots for stalking. That is what a mate did and he is very glad he did. He enjoys hunting. Hunting and thermal do not go in the same sentence together. If it is for work and you need thermal then I would suggest you buy the best thermal you can. Big bucks and you will get what you pay for. It is spooky how effective it is but it ain't hunting. As a control tool it is very effective. This may ruffle the odd feather but just being honest with you. I know a few people now who got rid of it for reccy big game hunting as they were finding it had eroded their enjoyment of their hunting, which is why we hunt ultimately. Tread carefully mate is all I suggest. Each to their own.

I have the same device and would give the same assessment.

I realize this is an older post, although I saw an guide ir510 nano n2 on trademe for about $1000. I wondered if these would still be okay or whether the technology has moved on and there are better options out there on a budget? Thanks!
