    .260 any day for your stated purpose. If you're anything like my mate down near Cork, 350yds would be a long shot.

    The .260 is mild mannered, more efficient than a .25-06 and makes less noise. It's more than up to the job on deer. The 75 action in .260 would be lighter than the -06 version. What's not to like?

    aye we do things a bit different here .
    300 yards is a long shot
