    Thoughts on the 300 PRC

    Hi all
Interested to hear your thoughts / opinions on the 300 PRC, just had one built by Hardy Rifles.
I seem to get looks of shock to eyes rolling 🙄
But at 2 ½ years away from retirement I decided to treat myself…

Soft high BC projectiles are your friend in any chambering when used for long range shooting

    And, accuracy is king

Good on you for treating yourself and getting what u want while u got plenty of years in u to enjoy using the new cannon!
After all once you’ve gone u can’t take savings with you!
I am 3 years away from retirement age brought new boat last year my son tried to tell me I shouldn’t have so I could retire sooner. F**k that I am buying this while at peak rem so i can enjoy using the boat i want now and when i get around to retiring.

ha fads come and go but the best last long after the novelty wears of - most of these new caliber's just seem to be a tweak of the old stuff - a deer shot with a hundred year old calibre such as 30-06 is just as dead - the only reason I like the older stuff is simple - I dont reload and am not about to start - but I can see advantages in some of the new calibers' in that many have reduced recoil with good grunt to get a good kill - that enhances accuracy - but a treat - now that is always a bonus - happy hunting with your new rifle -

A wiser man said , he who used his toys most wins. No use having it and not using it. See million $ boats laying tied up in marinas, not getting used or getting used for a drinking platform once a year at Xmas, owners to busy working to enjoy their possessions. Make the time enjoy your toys while u have the health, I'll never be able to afford to retire, but hey having fun is important

It’s the new kid on the block in big 30cal magnums, fits somewhere alongside 300WM, 300 RUM, 300NM, 300BM, etc. If you’re fond of big 30cals and wanting a new toy, the 300PRC ticks quite a few boxes. You might also be observing a reaction to “Hardy” name - seems to be a name/business that polarises people. Definitely a fan club & also there’s those less enamoured. Just go shoot the new boom stick & enjoy it

The PRC range is a great marketing ploy from Hornady
Having said that, mate if thats what you wanted then you'll be wrapped with it. Anything in 30 cal with a bit of oomph behind it will shoot long range and I haven't heard of a Hardy that wouldn't shoot well

Thanks fellas. I’ve always liked to aim for something a little different, one of my work mates showed me the Hardy website last year and I started to salivate… Lol…
Initially looked at the 30 Nosler, but couldn’t find a source of ammo and I don’t reload. The PRC had boxes sitting on most shelves so went that way.
Oddly enough, something for the old timers… My second choice would have been a 300 H&H. But the PRC got me all frothy.
Away working for another couple of months so I have to wait before I can actually touch it.Name: IMG_5155.jpeg
