Thoughts on the Backlanz Notched Bipod?

I am looking at purchasing the Backlanz notched bipod and was hoping to hear from people who use/ have used it. Just after some honest reviews as it costs an arm and a leg and I don’t want to have any regrets in spending that money.
So far I love everything about what I can see. It is lightweight, easily adjustable leg height, easy to take on and off, and the stock doesn’t take any special modifications to fit it. I have read that the previous (non notched) models from years ago had a bit too much play in them but apparently they have upgraded that and I would assume the notched version wouldn’t be an exception. Looking forward to any thoughts and advice.

The weight, ease of removal and being able to use on a number of rifles is the winner for me.
I don't always use a bipod but clip it on for my boy to shoot.
Plenty come up second hand
I sent mine back for a spring upgrade as it popped off a couple of times. They did this free of charge!

Yeah awesome bipods, a big improvement on the earlier models.
I didn't find them sloppy at all
The service from backlanz is second to none, a mate lost a earlier model out hunting and they sent him another for free.
A lot more than most nz retailers would do.

They wouldn't replace the springs in mine & my mates one's unless we paid for it! We both bought the bipods about a month or so before they brought out the newer version 2 model with the better spring and less play/movement with it.
My mates bipod fell off twice on him after firing a shot. I rang them when I seen the new V2 model come out as both of us weren't that impressed with our bipods.
They said they had never heard of one popping off before. We both sold our V1 bipods after that. They did offer to send me a the new V2 for me to look at which I ended up buying, only used it once and has since spent the last couple of years sitting in the gun safe. I went back to just using my harris bipod.

That being said I did have a quick look at there notched leg model at the sika show and it definitely looked like it would be a better & easier model to use than what I've got.

Thats surprising. My very early model blew its guts like yours and a new guts was in the mail immediately. Screwed it in and had no trouble since.

I'm still rocking a very early model and it has never missed a beat !!

Fantastic bipods would buy another in a heartbeat. Totally recommended [emoji106]

I had a very early carbon leg and really liked it

then got that upgraded to the stiffer spring and was 100% an improvement not that i found it an issue but i dont lean into a bipod like crazy

I now have the leg notch aswell and its much better then the carbon legs, faster to use and much easier to adjust when behind the gun.
I have found it jumps a little more on a hard surface like a farm track over the standard carbon but for in the hills i dont think it can be beat.

Yes we were very surprised too. Especially when he had just finished telling me how they have put a better spring in the new v2 models along with tightening up the tolerances to help eliminate some of the play/movement the v1's had. They were the 2 things that we didn't like about the v1's we had just bought.
His response was send them back down to me and I'll ''upgrade the spring and latch for $50 each"

If you have the money and are happy to spend it then it’s worth it. Happy as with my V2, will be getting the knotched leg one when I can

I've got both versions, the new one is better, and it matches my lightweight titanium Remington, carbon barreled, carbon stock rifle beautifully, but if I'm being honest, a Harris with pod lock is probably a better bipod?
Not as cool though!

I got the same rifle with all the same specs! and yes the V2 does look smart on that rifle. I still have the mounting bracket on that rifle for the backlanz, only had that rifle out of the gun safe once though in the last couple of years. Gone back to the harris for all my other rifles now. Another big thing we found was that the harris is a lot easier for my 9 year old to use and shoot off as he doesn't have to try and forward load the backlanz to eliminate any movement, with the harris he just lays down & puts the scope on target and pulls the trigger.

Hi Mate,

This was near on about 2 and a half years ago when we made the first initial upgrades. It was a pretty tricky situation at the time. We wanted to make them available to customers but we couldn’t do it for free as we would have had a flood of people and financially it would have been a huge hit for us being a pretty young business. So we opted to sell the upgrade at cost at that time for a period of a couple of months. These days we have ironed all the issues out and the bipods we sell today are pretty bullet proof. If there are any customer issues we deal with them immediately and we will repair or replace no questions asked.

I watched the video. For those of you using one, they seem very noisey. Can you adjust them in the bush quietly?

I don't find it noisy to adjust the leg length or positioning. It's not silent but then again if I'm using it any target animal is going to be far enough away that it's not an issue.

If i let it spring all the way out it makes some noise as it hits the stopper but that is too high for me to shoot from anyway
I normally only need it a 2 or 3 notchers down.

100% its not a cheap option but I would buy it again.
