Thoughts on Burris XTR Low Rings?

    Hi Guys,

I have just purchased a new scope (Vortex Viper PST) and have fitted it using Burris XTR 30mm Medium rings. I have decided I need to get the low rings to make the cheek weld more acceptable.

As you can see in the photos it is pretty clear of the rail and barrel so I have room to move lower. My question is, does anyone have any experience with the low rings and whether there are issues with, what appears to be, a smaller clamping bar? Looking at the pictures online (below) the bar seems to be a lot smaller and also if anyone has any that they can upload a photo of that would be really helpful. I just want to see more clearly how they clamp and how that reduced clamp looks from an aesthetic point of view.

FYI the medium rings will be up for sale once I have fitted the low rings.

    Thanks,
    Ollie

I have them on my 30 06 they look bulky but are actually lighter than the leupy PWR I used to use.
They haven't moved in 100 plus shots
I have them in leupy slot bases with a 42mm scope and have lots of clearance.

Oh awesome thanks. If you have easy access and they are the low rings, would I be able to get you to post a photo of the clamp side?

    Thanks,
    Ollie

I don't appear to have a stock photo of it in these rings with this scope
I'll see what I can do over the weekend.

That would be great thanks. I am more interested in some close ups of that smaller clamping bar, I just want to see how secure it looks, and how much of the thickness of the ring is actually then applying a clamping force. And also just for general looks to see if it looks good or whether it would annoy me aesthetically

I have gone ahead and ordered a set of low rings. So should be able to see how they go in the next few weeks!
