Thread: threading into the flutes in a barrel

I have a tikka with a aftermarket fluted 22.5 inch barrel looking to shorten and suppress it to 18-19 iches which would mean cutting into fluted section of barrel the guy who barreled it for me said it would be fine but would just look abit silly so at the time I stick with the shortest I could without cutting flutes but its just going to be to long with a can fitted and I figure once there's an over barrel can fitted you wont see it anyway can it be done? and will it affect anything other than looks?
