I love the Taihape crack...when I did that all the toys were thrown out of the cot.
.270...you can always work back from the best.

Love the stw as shot one quite a bit and got some good legs.
And as my mate said about calibre when asked was.
If your going to put a hole in something it might as well be a big one.

I no they are loud, always thought they where a bit a gay but the local has one cheap.

Most of the 'advice' you have received so far is people amusing them selves. Quite typical around here, mind you you did open yourself up a bit!

I've had two .270s and theres nothing wrong with the calibre; read the latest addition of NZ Hunter.

As far as choosing between Rem and Tika, just see whats available and what feels right in you hands. Just to be sure I have two of each!

The journey to hunting perfection involves the purchase and sale of many rifles so don't sweet it to much; a Tika in .270 will kill everything you'll find in New Zealand.

The .270 I had was a Parker Hale...they boot in both directions...not really the rifle for the gay community...but if you are that way inclined we can sympathise with you.

For a no frills out of the box go shooting rifle they are a good bang for buck and the bolt is very slick and easy to strip down and clean. But what I didn't like is to single feeding them the ejection port is to small and that very distinct hollow plastic sound when hunting in tight stuff. I am the same as Dogmatix up graded to a Sako.
If you want bling the Remington's have far more aftermarket parts.

and as for Tikka's being gay its all how you hold your hand.
