    Tikka 223 single loading

Hi all. As the title suggests, this is about single loading heavy for calibre projectiles in a fast twist Tikka T3 varminter. Is anyone out there making magazine replacement inserts to present the round to the breech better? There was a bloke in Nelson I think making cnc aluminium followers for Tikka mags to better enable top load single feeds. That was a few years ago. Anyone know anything about that? Thank you

Assume your talking .223 T3? If so google Bob sled and I thinks Waters rifleman does a single shot adapter. The bob sled is good. Import from us for 20 ish.

@BMcB, check on TardME, there a vendor called VTP who do a lot of 3d printed parts. Might find what you need with him.
I have previously bought and used an AR-style single loader replacement from him, and it works very well.

Cheers Waldo. I've got some bits off VTP before and they do some magazine delete blocks but not for Tikkas. He's moved on to having his own website now too.

just thinking out loud here...what happens if you place a round BACKWARDS in top of mag??? will bolt ride over top as shoulder is sloping correctly for it??? would that allow single feeding to function above it....worth a crack Nigel....either it will work of it wont.it theory the flat end/base of case should enguage front of mag and stop it moving...be interesting to try it and see if it works.

You could also get a mag that allows a longer OAL

Just tried Micky's idea of the backwards loaded round. That didn't work as the bolt catches the neck of the case and tries to feed it.
I've modified T3 mags in the past for longer COAL, either extending a short action mag or reducing length in a long action mag. This time I'm looking for something that doesn't butcher the original equipment. All my T3 mags have had plastic lips Shane. Did the 590's have metal feed lips? Not had one of those.

I was meaning a loaded round in magazine..so bolt didnt have case neck to catch on...I immediately though of a crimped blank round when you posted bolt had caught on neck....I assumed you had meant it caught on neck of case sitting inside magazine,my thinking is if the case in top of magazine has all tapers the right way (by case being in wrong way) the bolt should ride over top of it,any slight check in forward motion should see the rear of case enguage front of magazine and stop the case moving any further allowing bolt to continue riding forward....

Waters rifleman do a t3 .223 mags with coal’s at 2.4 and 2.6 inches. 2.6 will take care of up to 80.5 gn pills loaded to the lands. Obviously need the bolt stop mod to be completed.

    Have a go yourself Mickey.
Loaded round in the mag backwards still gets picked up by the bolt face on the case neck and still lifts the cartridge out as though to feed it. If you've got a single round sitting on top is just a snarl up.
