Id leave it 270 at least for a while, till you are set on spending that thousand dollars+ on a new caliber

^^^^^^ this if there is nothing wrong with the barrel and it's a shooter there's really no point in pouring $$$$ into it, 500 yards that's really stretching it for a 270win even if you can get 3100fps with 145gn eldx I limit myself to 400 yards but thats me, enough ft/lbs at a set amount of yards is not the only consideration for ethical hunting. Not trying to tell you how to suck eggs mate and don't wanna turn this into a shit fight.
