    Tikka 7mm-08 re-barrel to 7mm rem mag?

I have a suppressed, 18" barrel 7mm-08 tikka that I've pillar bedded into a boyds thumbhole stock and I really like it but since I will most likely end up moving down south I've been wondering if it could be re-barrelled for longer range.

So if I get a new barrel put on it and get one of the longer magazines will the action work as a 7mm rem mag? I guess .280 is the another option but I don't really want to get all the gear for reloading yet since I already have lots of stuff and not much storage.

No as the bolt face has to be opened up. Suggest you stick with the 7/08

Just sell it and buy a rem mag, or throw it on here for trade. Seems to be plenty of remmags come up on tardme.

Keep it and buy a rem mag

Two guns always better than one, or ream to saum and use wsm magazine

Then you will need a 'crossover rifle' for in between the two

I'd just get it reamed out to either 280 or 284 and get someone to reload ammo if your not doing it yourself

Talk to Darren at Dpt, he has the 284 reamer and can rechamber your barrel if you want to.

Keep it and get a 280 AI. Seems like everybody gets rid of their rem mag after a while.

The 300 win mag is only better if it has a one in ten twist for the 208 amax

Otherwise the 162 amax in the rem mag at 3080fps hoses it past 300 yrds

Keep it and stay in the closet.. head down to the mainland and when the gun you like runs out of legs start shopping round. I know a few down here that run 243 and 708 - seems to work out ok for them

Yea, I went hunting near Mt Cook about a month ago and shot a bull tahr in the shoulder at 270m which dropped it on the spot. I wouldn't shoot at animals out past 300m though since my scope is pretty basic.
