I have just ordered an Atlasworx Tikka Floor plate online from Australia. They have replied saying under the new law changes I will need an import permit? Is this the case and if so what's the best way to do this?
Could be tricky given I am not in NZ at the moment.

Yes you need a permit, no it's not hard.
You just need to follow the process.

Yes permit required. I think permit applications can be submitted online now. Worst part is waiting to get it out of NZ Customs if they catch it.

Its even its title "POL 67B: Application to Import Firearms/Restricted weapons/parts" its for restricted parts....I had this discussion earlier & got told "no all parts require an import permit"
Quite unbelievable to be fair if it is in fact the case....why are they even issuing permits .....
I would say somebody has forgot to update the online information since the madness started.

Yes a permit is required for anything firearms. Including beleive it or not slings and scope caps.

When you get the import permit does NZ Police automatically send it to/notify customs? Reason I ask, is I have the permit application underway but the item has also been sent already.
No. They send it to you. Usually email you a copy and post you two originals. One you post to customs when they ask for it.Quote:

That's good news, I have one I need to get installed in my stock but all my local Gunsmith's are busy with compliance mod's 3-4 week wait I have been told. Have you lined someone up to do the install or are you going to do it yourself there's a bit of milling involved for the std stock. If you have a CTR they drop in apparently.
