You can just cut out the inner web section. It will still feed fine with the now too short follower.
I guess you mean the projectile is seated too far out, you could reduce the oal to fit, try out a 6.5x55 mag it may give enough extra length, or bubba the follower as msl suggests
Pop off the bottom of the magazine. From memory you will see a couple, 4(?) small circles just above the base. Push the plugs in and take the bottom off. The. You will see the space in the rear of the magazine. Cut/dremel the spacer out and reassemble. If that sounds. Out hard then just buy a long one. Will need to get/change the bolt stop as well. I think Gunworks sell long ones.
As above, long bolt stop & a 270, 6.5x55 size mag works best if you want to save the work.
I came up with a new follower and spacer to lengthen 223 magazines, works really well and has the benefit of being able to single load also.
Only reason I spent the time and effort doing this is because you can use the medium magazine (308,243 etc) for 223.
For a 260 I would just go buy a longer magazine, heaps easier and will look better.
Buy a longer one cheap from this (below) website and sell the shorter one here or on Trademe, then modify your bolt stop.

I have made one for my 260 out of a long action 5 shot mag. Cut the follower and fitted a spacer made from nylon in the back and it works great with the med action bolt throw.
@Beetroot how did you modify the feed lips to hold the 223 rounds in the med length mag? The 223 mag has narrower feed lips.
@blair993 I modified the standard 223 magazine.
Here's a thread I started with all the information about it, used it the other day without even realizing it was the modified magazine and if worked perfectly.

ok you had said you can use the med length mag for 223 and couldn't see how.

@Beetroot lol. i was confused.
the long action on the rhs with the green nylon spacer is a 5 shot will still feed out of a med action and coal is longer than it needs to be. my 140eldms are about 71.58mm.
