    tikka optilock torque settings

Just fitted a set of one piece optilocks on my tikka is there a torque setting for them?
Also whats the general consensus on using lock tight ever if you torque the screws?

Thread locker is not required for quality mounts/rings when appropriately torqued in my opinion and experience.

Its been a very long time since i had to get a scope mounted on a rifle. Hopefully H&F have got a torque screw driver, its basically all set just need to torque the screws

I would never, repeat never let any staff of a H&F or GC store mount a scope on a rifle of mine.

It's pretty easy mount a scope especially with the Optilocks as they have the plastic inserts to help with any alignment issues. Don't stress about torqueing - just go easy on the ring screws with your hand on the short end of the allen/torx key (whatever they're using now). I use 15" lbs with a 1/4 drive torque wrench and believe me that it's easy to over tighten the ring screws with the supplied key.

    Don't use Loctite it's unnecessary.

I will let them mount it if they have the right gear and they are responsible with it
Saves be doing it brought a new a couple of weeks ago and he had a torque screw driver etc but he got halfway through it and noticed one of the other staff had stuffed the t15 in the set he asked me if I wanted him to do it with a normal screwdriver but I have a torque screw diver here at home so we got it set level and niped it up so it wouldn’t move on the way home and it torqued it to correct settings when I got home

Cut a long story short he was good because he realised if he tried he would fuck something which I respect I would gladly let him mount my scopes because every other thing was perfectly done and all that stopped him finishing the job was a fucked screw driver which he knew he couldn’t complete the job to a quality standard and called it quits Especially when he found out i had the gear and was just being lazy lol

I see what you’re saying though some just go at it with supplyed alan key and your screwed are fucked before you leave the shop oe worse the scope it’s self
