Tikka t3x recoil pad removal issues

Hi. Just wondered if anyone else had had issues trying to take out the two screws that hold the recoil pad onto the stock on a Tikka t3x.I tried to take the recoil pad off my rifle this afternoon and had trouble because the screws were really tight, I thought it was going to start stripping the head of the screw. Has anyone else had this issue and what did you do to fix it?

Have taken a few off, Phillips head jam it in past the soft rubber twiddle it a bit till it fits into the slot and away you go (and get your minds out of the gutter)
