I am interested by the cartridge: the 44/308 Toby mag.
I had thought about a 44br , for discrete shooting but the 44 mag already exist.

I ended up going with chopping a 270's neck off. Guess it'll work with 30-06 too. Need a better trimmer then the stupid lee ones so I can trim it straight but for now just getting the idea of what I'm doing. I tried a few ways before getting it to where it is as you can see with the smashed cases and bolt

Should add I could probably get it a little longer if I need a proper trimmer as I could lop the neck and most of the shoulder back and it'll have more length. The way I did that with the grinder took a few mm's back from the shoulder.
Refined it a little more, have a question now. I done another case from a 30-06 and did what I said before and took it back just to the shoulder and got 50mm case length but the 44 projectile I have is kinda hard to put in and am wondering is that due to the case being sized so to speak or do I need to open it a tiny bit and if I was to open it the whole case would fit loose in the chamber but would that matter? heres new pics. the 44 projectile is just sitting there and is next to a .308 for comparison.

When I tried the 44 wont just drop right in it needs to be opened a bit. Does the case go off the measurement around the base so the case would have no taper? and all you'd have to do is put the mouth into a 44mag die or something just to neck size it then it'll fire form its self?
The case still needs to be sized
