    Trijicon TARS

Been waiting for more info on this scope for a while.

    http://www.trijicon.com/na_en/produc...hp?pid=TARS102

you think nightforces are heavy, this thing is 47 ounces/51 with sunshade and a bit like the proposed Leupold MK8 pricing at $4k USD

It's designed to be very very tough.

I'm not interested as the weight would make my rifle balance terribly, and from what I saw their reticle selection wasn't great.

There is also a Kahles Tactical (crap features) and a Steiner one (heavy and giant but otherwise ok) which I haven't seen discussed here (they've been around for a while)

the 1-8's are so last year, 1-6 is where it's at this year.

1-8's were all GIANT, some interesting looking 1-6 scopes coming out though, and they don't weigh a kilogram which is nice

Why the hell would you want micrometer style turrets on a 1-8x? bush scope right?

    AR rifle setup I guess?
1 power for those tacticool room clearing events.
8 power for precision shooting to the other side of the Korengal Valley.

They're for semi-autos really, for 3-gun or IPSC rifle style events, LEO/Military uses, etc. Hunting as well - 1x for when you find a mob of goats at 30 meters, 8x and turrets for when you spot some 500 meters away

Ok I can see that sort of,I used to struggle with 9x and even the 14 I have now is hard enough to see at distance.

Magnification is personal I guess... I find 12x heaps for out to 1km, 8x is more than enough to shoot a deer (or person since that's sort of what they're for) at 400-500 meters.

8x at 500 meters is like using iron sights at 62.5 meters...
