trouble with Superlative Arms Adjustable Gas Block

OK so question im using a promag 5 shot and i'm starting to wonder if its not coming up and holding the bolt back but some times it is.... hence i feel like i'm running around in circles, ive had it hold the bolt back at 18 clicks out(max gas pressure) also at 27 also down to 14 but ive also had the opposite and its getting really frustrating as to what the thing actually wants... as i think the mag is giving me dramas ? pretty sure i'm not doing it wrong seems pretty simple, is there something else it could be ? seriously think its the mag....? i did see small amount of powder residue coming out the gas tube rear of the gas block too?

A long time ago in a galaxy far, far away, I found the 5 shot promag's a bit average, sometimes perfect sometimes not, but problems normally related to FTF, not bolt hold back.

You could pop off the gas block and double check the position in relation to the barrel step, as I've seen in some cases its a little out, so may be messing with you, also double checking vertical alignment is all ok... just an idea...

I would be trying another mag, maybe find someone in your area to borrow one from? A lot of the reduced capacity mags seem to be temperamental and pro mag famously so.

Is your gasblock lined up correctly. If the hole in the barrel is partly covered it could explain why the block needs to be fully open

My experience with Promags is that the brand name is a bit misleading.
Crap finish and fit, rust easily, floor plates locked in place and sharp edges.
Amateurmag, Backyardworkshopmag or Averagemag is more accurate.
