    trying to decide what scope...

I have the following scopes available...
    Leica er5 2-10@50
    Leupold vx1 1-4@20
    Burris xtr I 1-4@ tactical

The two rifles I have to put these onto are a Bush gun 308, and a low profile 6.5 grendel chassis rifle.

What would you keep and put on what, and what would you sell ?

Sell the vx1, xtr1 on the 308, 2-10 on the grendel. XTR is better built and optics then the vx1.

I'd put the Leupold on the bush rifle as that lower magnification gives you much better FOV and the warranty is better than Burris. Then the Leica on the 6.5 grendel.

That's kinda what I was thinking. Just wasntntoo sure between the burris and the leupold. Either way, they have the same zoom etc. The burris also has a red dot illuminated reticle.

Yes but Leupold has a better warranty than Burris IMO. Just personal preference, go with what you feel is right.

They are both used, and they both have forever warranty.
Or do you mean when it comes to claiming a warranty with leupold is easier ?

I would sell the Burris, Leupold, Leica and Grendel and buy a VX5 2-10 for the 308.

Food for thought; How accurate is the 308?

Even though it is to be a bush gun, is it accurate out past 200m for longer shot? If so, is 4x going to be enough? Leica is probably too bulky (50mm) but the 2-10x could be handy if it is accurate past 200m or if it is easier to see clearly in low light / bush shade. If it is to be a true close bush rifle then perhaps a 1-4 would be better (less bulky) and leave the 2-10 for the chassis.

And what range are you wanting from the Grendel? 123gr doing about 2400fps? a 1-4 maybe? For the Chassis rifle I would use the Burris XTR if it was mine if you are staying under 150m on small targets.

It will depend on what you expect of each and what you are using it for. Versatility I would put the 2-10 on the 308. But for a dedicated bush either of the 1-4s (Whichever you find better to use) .

I've heard of more than one account where someone has tried to claim warranty on a Burris and got told it wasn't covered where in the same situation Leupold likely would've fixed or replaced it no questions asked.

This may seem kind of random but it reminds me of something I saw the other day, it was talking about how China might be "breaking" an international treaty banning the testing of nuclear weapons, but technically even if they were doing it they wouldn't actually be breaking any treaty as they never ratified the agreement. Not only that but neither did nearly anyone else who signed it. So a lot of these countries only follow this treaty in principle only, if push came to shove there isn't actually anything to compel them.
In a similar manner I think there are some companies out there who might offer a warranty that looks good, but when it comes to actually claiming it....That is one thing Leupold is well known for, having a great warranty and actually following through with it.

If one is a bush gun then being able to get on target quickly in poor light is a major for me. The Leica will walk all over the Leupold

Put the 2-10 on either probably the grendel.
Then sell the other two and get another 2-10 or 3-9 to make the 308 more versatile

I'm getting rid of the 3-9@42 zeiss as o want to to short, some of the hunting I do is closed in bush, and having to shoot no more than 75m.

Other locations have closed bush and open, other parts are just open tops... so having a rifle for each and then a designated go to for all rifle seems to fill my empty spot.

Your 3-9x42 would be a great fit for the 308. Its the size I would use. Leave it on a lower power as a default well suited to the scrubby stuff, then if a longer shot presents itself , you can "zoom in" for better accuracy.

In some ways it is a pity the grendel s not the bush gun as the calibre seems well suited for that sort of range.
