I understand that doing this can theoretically change bore dimensions etc, interested in real world experiance on the matter.

had a 20 inch RRA varmint barrel re-profiled to jp lightweight, shot moa before and after, Sold it to a mate and still moa after 10 or so thousand rounds
Trust the dog.........................................ALWAYS Trust the dog!!
If the barrel is cut-rifled, there shouldn't be a problem. If you take a button-rifled barrel right down in size, then it's a definite possibility that the residual stress will be released, increasing the bore dimensions esp at the muzzle end.
Dean Maisey did a nice job of turning down my sako.. Still shooting deer...
What's a cost estimate for this guys? I'd be interested in taking a bit off my #2 profile howa to make it a better carry rifle
Yeah, I'm probably after tinkering for the sake of it. I have made a cavity in the buttstock and routed some out of the forend so the stock weighs 800gr now. Might shorten barrel to 19 or 20 inches to bring back balance and call it good.
What's the cost of doing this, ive got Neckshots old Winchester 260AI with Vulcan barrel that shoots like a demon but needs to lose some weight. Tossing up whether i sell and get a Howa or spend some money on this
