I can't see what could go wrong with the exception of twisting and breaking the charging handle rod by accident, as its not designed as solid and to be used as often as say an AK
Guess its trial and error time.

@Beavis might as well, although if shipping gets delayed again, he'll be busy with another new arrival.

I feel like the charging handle could be moved to the RHS with a bit of engineering. If it had a slick side receiver, this would be easy. Even more so in the fact as you could then attach a charging handle directly to the BCG and mill a slot for it in the receiver.

The lantac straight pull bcg would have been an ideal swap in but looks like they are no longer produced.

I believe you can run a standard charging handle on these. Not sure if it'd be a benefit, or a hindrance, but it's an option

Anyone have any suggestions on ammo for this rifle, barrel has a 1:7 twist rate, 16 inch. I've been buying the American Eagle 50 grain in anticipation but starting to think I will need a heavier grain. Will be using it for Fallow deer.

American Eagle 50 gr is an excellent load but I wouldn't use it on fallow.
I prefer heavier soft points like Federal blue box 64 gr, Winchester Super-X 64 gr, Hornady Whitetail 60 gr

or anything loaded with Hornady 55 or 62 gr soft points seems to work.

There are packs of Federal Fusion 62gr for a good price at the local shop. Once the stock is gone, the price will double when the next lot comes in soon. The reviews are really good on it but as it's not the MSR version, do you think it will be fine for the straight pull AR?

Fusion 62 gr would be a great choice if it shoots well in your rifle.
MSR just means it is optimised for short 14"-16" barrels. Standard Fusion will be a little slower through a 16" barrel but I don't think the deer will notice.

If it's a good price why not grab as much as you can afford

For deer pigs and goats I'm currently running Frontier 5.56 NATO in a Troy straight-pull 1-7
and Speer Gold Dot 64 gr (new stuff is 62 gr) in Browning X-Bolt 1-8 .223

I’ll be loading 65gn SGK for game for mine.
Backup for when they run out will be Hornady 55gn SPs.

Any accessories that you are looking at getting for it? Scope type, in particular?

Unfortunately I got rid of all my AR accessories in the steal back.
Suppressors, 10 round mags, ACOG and Vortex prism scopes and scope mounts etc.
    All gone.

So I’m putting my Loopy 3.5-10 LRT in a Vortex 30mm mount on it.
Will have to get a new can with 1/2x28 thread.
Still have a bipod mount and a couple of 2 point slings somewhere.
