What they do is slow down faster than anything else. They are only flat over a similar or shorter distance than a high BC projectile.

Using the 270 as an example.

85gn@ 3800FPS, 1Okt full wind factor. 100yd zero. Drop/drift at 300 is -5.5", 4.25 impact energy 1840 FPE
130gn@ 3100 same same, -10", 5.75", 1833 FPE.
