    Vortex diamondback 10x42s are fairly compact and light I used them for a few years. They have glass more than good enough for 90% of the time and you will likely appreciate the extra field of veiw and light gathering even 8x42s are pretty versatile and sometimes the extra field of view is worth the loss of zoom. I think the 8x32s actually had the best field of view of the diamondbacks
