Looked through a set stateside and thought gross. Glass was very average id hardly say better than my old diamondback 10x42s. I didn't have the same thought looking through the Sigs however i didn't look through them side by side as the sigs i looked through while hunting. I do use Geovids and ultravids as my main glass so may be a bit snobby but i also dont have a huge issue with the diamondbacks knowing what they cost me. The 8x32 diamondbacks i think are some of the best budget binos ive looked through. Not super sharp and the colors aren't as real as Alpha glass but they are pretty cheap. I also am a big fan of the 8x30 or 32 alpha glass if you only had one set of binoculars. They are relatively light and i dont believe lose much in performance. But now having used both alpha glass and a rangefinder/bino combo im not happy to give up either so that really only leaves me the Geovids or EL Ranges for tops hunting. Guiding I use the 10x25 Ultravids on my pack strap for glassing from a Horse. Id be happier with the 8x25 Swaros i think as the lower magnification helps i think when not as stable. I did also look through the compact 10x25 Zeiss and really liked them.
Replaced my Steiner binos, and leupold RX 1000 with the Vortex Fury HD 5k. First impression was the glass was a lot better than the Steiner predators, and the range finding capability a lot better than the Leupold.
In overcast conditions I was getting a reading on trees from over 4000M. No point ranging deer at that range, as the reticle is bigger than the target. Full sunlight was a less impressive result, but still over 2km.
Biggest selling point was a real lifetime warranty on all of the components. None of this lifetime warranty, and in smallprint, not including electronics. Previous experience has taught me that it's always the electronics that pack it in.
No worries Stocky. I went with a traditional pair of binos this time around. Cost of rangefinder binos was just too much to justify for one or two trips a year. I do more hunting than that, but I don't need binos where I go. I don't even really need a scope!
