It'll probably be cheaper in the long run to save a while longer and go for a euro rangefinding unit. Reason being that they hold their value remarkably well. The sig unit is what? $2.5k. For a couple hundred more you could get a pair of geovid hd's without all the ballistics fluff. - assuming you're only after something for general hunting applications.
The geovids will still be worth $1300 (if not more) in ten years from now. The sig, while probably a great unit (and it isn't exactly 'cheap' either), will not hold its value aswell I imagine, and it's still got the same acchilles heal as most electronic gadgets (limited warranty and subject to obsolescence).
I think the sig is more suited to the less budget conscious who can afford to regularly upgrade, and who need a sophisticated unit for long range work.
But that's just my opinion. Others may think the exact opposite.
