Am looking at one of these in 2.5-10x44 for a good all round scope and be able to dial from 300-600m.
It will replace a bushnell elite 4200. Looks to be a reasonable price too.
Any comments on build quality, glass reliability etc?

Got one about three months ago. Tracks well. Reticle a little too fine. Optics seem good to my eyes. Got another one coming in a week. Compares well with my Mk4 4.5 - 14 x 50. Another plus is that it came with a sunshade.
didnt happen to get it from dave at magnums by any chance ?
got one on my lemington, very nice scope, love the turrets, nice and solid, the ability to zero them is fantastic.
Did you get it from usa? What did it cost in the end
nah bought it locally. was 850 for a HS 4-16x44
Yip. From Dave.
just bought the 4-16x50
very cool $650 from the USA
the vortec scopes are in short supply these days
They have been since they were introduced, because they all go back under warranty, they cant keep up.
Got dad some of the binos for his 50th. Embarrassing quality, wont buy them again, quite pissed off actually.
A mate bought one of the vipers for his old mans birthday, it took a shit, sent it back.
I dont understand how people keep recommending them, customer service doesn't mean jack 2 days up a 5 day hunt.
Chris
popularity and sales figures are speaking for themselves, these should also be considered base line quality. and Binos?!!! why would you risk buying low grade binos?
even leupy binos are risky. id be interested to know who else has had vortex viper failures. your the first ive herd.
PS i have had a shit leupy scope before and i didnt black list leupy.
I have played with one and when spare funds permit I will be buying one.
I was impressed all round for the money.
Just can't decide on which one yet.

Good value. About bushnell 4200 class. I didnt keep it but only because of the super fine BCD reticle in the 4-16. Will most likley have one with a reticle that suits me better in the future.

Shit sneeze that gun is bloody shiny as do you use it?
Could you get a pic of what the turrets look like under the cap?
One of my all time favourites ,used it for some years with no troubles at all. I dont get to hung up on "glinting " or "cammo everything".

Sneeze, you mention the fine reticle in the 4-16. Do you think an illum model would have negated the problem? Also what other rets are available now? I would research them myself but on restricted gay internet at work.
Thinking the Viper PST illum 4-16 would suit my needs
Might help a bit, I dont use/like iluminated. The bcd is very fine in the 4-16 .08 moa on the crosss hair and the post arnt much better. Some guys like it but I found it just dissapeared against a dark background in low light. Moving day tomorrow but Ill have a look at the options when I get back home.

It's on an light weight Rem700 in 7mmRemMag with hunter edge stock
Yeah the illum is pretty good better then my swfa
The illumination is only good on the highest 3 settings the rest are designed for night vision apparently so hard to see with naked eye

Mines great. Glass isnt to flash but it has all the bells and whistles. It sits atop a lar8 and dials out to just under a thousand and back depending on temprature at the time. Love the reticle, hash lines and half hashes seem easier to read than dots and the hash spacings match the turret changes, if you find you lose the reticle because its to fine then turn the damn illumination on!
Im sold on them. Would buy another one and am currently looking although its a toss up between a vortex and an acog so price might have the final say.
