Hi All,
I saw a post by Sam, The Claw, about how he had bought this fancy 22lr out of Aussie that was made in the US that used Rem 700stocks and triggers.
Sounded cool so I hit him up, and he told me the price! No way!
Then his evilness, aka The Claw, brought it to one of the Alpine Long Range Matches in Reefton, and I had a play and shot it!
So a day later after talking with Danny from Rhinosport in Aussie, an order was placed.
Then the wait for the import paperwork began - eventually once NZP got over the fact that, No I don't have a serial number because Danny doesn't have them in his hands yet, permit was received.
Then the wait for the Aussie export paperwork began - poor ol Danny....Is it here yet, is it here yet...lol
Then the stars aligned and documents received.
I flew over to Melbourne, met Danny at the airport, and once we had a feed and a couple of beers, home I flew with my new toy. Thanks Taxinda!
Due to lambing nowhere was open to shoot it where I would normally.
quick message to a mate of mine and sighting in began - only downside is that it is into the stopbank that holds the sea back off the paddocks - so its got a evil swirling crosshead wind.
Didn't hurt to much at 50 but at 100 it definitely shows.
Immediately it doesn't like cheap ammo - sometimes wont close the bolt due to differing rim thickness. But it eats quality ammo like a kid and icecream!
When I tried Winchester subs I had 3 rounds that wouldn't close.
I chronyed the Eley Match, SK Rifle match and the Winchester 40grn subs which was interesting. The groups followed the speeds and extreme spreads. Ihad put in 60MOA between the rail and the scope rings.
Turned out to be a bit much! my aiming points were the little diamonds you can just see on the bottom row! Ive now taken 10moa out so I should be able to have a 50mt zero now.
Green dot was my aiming point.
When I shot the Eley and SK at 100 the wind really started to show the difference but also the variation in speed showing up in the vertical.
The Eley clocked in at 1081 with exteme spread of 9fps, SK Rifle at 1008 with ES of 42fps, and Winchester at 1069 with an ES of 29fps. Crazy that Winchester was more consistant than "match" ammo.
But fair to say with only 75rounds down the tube and giving accuracy like its showing, lying prone on a track off a bipod, that im going to have to up my game!
