VX5 zero stop letting go ? help

    Hey guys
Have always like the leupys , I purchased a VX5 fire dot in 2019. Love everything about it , have it on a Sako 85 270wsm , running reloads , and its deadly asf.
UNTIL , the last couple months , after dialing up and shooting , ill miss maybe the next shot or one after.
When I recheck it , its always high. Not left or right , always high.
I zero it , goes good , then back to high again after a shot or 2.
Mounts , barrel , loads are very consistent , everything seems as it should. I try read the wind as best as i can when shooting etc etc.

For example , I shot a deer last wednesday at 380 yards in the shoulder , bang flop , the young fella drilled one in the neck at 467 on saturday , tried shot , impressive shooting for a 16 YO , and he doesnt use it bugger all.
I go to shoot a hynd at 357 yards on tuesday, clean miss above her , no wind , dialed in etc bla bla bla.
I Check what its doing on paper ,9 inchs high at 100 yards ? this has happened 3 times in the last couple months , time before was 4 inchs high , time before that 7.5 inchs high

I googled it , and found that this happens abit with these zero stop caps.
Tweaking the 3 screws evenly when tightening it up seems to be the main suggestion , which i did anyway .
In that same thread , some mentioned loctite.
when I removed the cap last time to re zero it , only unscrewing one screw bugger all , released the cap , ive never noticed that before.

Is there anything else i can do , so close to the roar , without removing scope and sending it away ?
Was going to replace the screws hoping that might help. Im not frowning upon using loctite either haha.
Nothing worse than losing confidence in your tools , especially when you love it
    Any suggestions welcomed.
    Cheers team

Sounds more like the scope is loosing its zero internally man the zero lock turret wouldn't be causing that sort of zero shift i wouldnt think.

I have had crap get under the button and it stopped the zero lock from engaging but this sounds more like its loosing its zeroed aiming point.

For context , I cull for a living , grew up in the bush , I'm not the sharpest shooter , but do enough to know a little bit about it.
When using the wsm , its at range and the deer generally don't know I'm there. So they're not rushed shots , generally taking my time , lying down , clear shooting area bla bla bla

Cheers man. I was hoping the 3 screws weren't doing there job

Yeah big shifts in it jumping about. Piss me off.
Have some jokers lined up in the roar to take out but not that keen to take this canon for them.

I cant see the 3 screws making that if anything it would make it shoot low because it would underdial if they weren't turning the turret properly.

I would be sending it to the importers man wont be any good for the roar tho but i think you already know that one

I also can't see the screws making any difference.
The cap is only on there to make it easy to turn.
Next time at the range remove the cap altogether I'm sure it will so do the same.
Sounds like it needs to go on a 3 month trip back to the manufacture

Bugger. Thats not what i was hoping to hear team haha. cheers though.
when doing 3 shot groups to re-zero , it tracks back down like it should
to where i want it to with the cap off , and it groups well, part of why i thought
that it may have been the screws in the cap not doing its job.

When I did my homework on leupold i came across an article from a training guy in the states, said they always had problems with the erector (or something like that) he would get them fixed then later on same thing would happen. Basically just not made to dial even tho thats how they are marketed. Probably ok for average hunter but they were shooting alot of rounds.

Pretty sure on vx5/6 only one screw holds the turret on, I’d say problems internally as well

Hmmmm. interesting. I shoot a fair bit with it.

I took it to the range yesterday , removed cap , 3 shots , dialed up 3 MOA , 3 shots , then re-zeroed. It tracked as it should have

Cap screws coming loose for sure

Either not tight enough or off centred tightening sequence

Give them a decent nip up with the correct Allen key
