I have the VX6 3-18x44 on my 7.5 pound 7/375, probably not the lightest scope, but it does everything very well and is not the heaviest either.

Get the Leupold.
The 44mm should be lighter than the the 50.
The VX6 has fantastic glass & the warantee is second to none.
If you are building a super light weight rig the lighter the better.
Even look at the 4.5-14 x 40 VX3 CDS lighter still & plenty of guys have already said they don't use the March over 16-18 power what is the point of the extra mag ?
Lets not even talk about $$$

The 44 is only 40 grams lighter than the 50 I have considered both and would you go with the 50 objective for better light gathering ability for the extra 40 grams? I'm not interested in the vx3 as I'm after a lower power for in the bush and something with the versatility of the extra mag for the longrange stuff
Thanks for the input re the march not being able to be used above 16-18 power as having never had or looked through one myself I wouldn't have known until it turned up, not hugely worried about price difference as I have found out the hard way the more you change things the more it costs in the end so better to buy what your after the first time up.
