A couple of recent add on’s to the collection

1st up my rolling block 40-65
I have wanted a 40-65 for a fair while (45-70 necked down to.408)
To add to the collection of long range black powder cartridge rifles
The issue is there’s not that many in nz
So when my good mate called and said he knew of a very nice rifle coming up for sale
I said id buy it before even looking at it (when this guy says it’s nice it’s nice)

Im really into my rolling block rifles so it fitted perfectly into my collection
It’s a full custom rifle
Badger barrel
The action has been set away to the usa to a guy named bob roller who retrofits original actions with double set triggers
This would have been a very expensive undertaking but it truly makes the rifle into the true target rifle which it is
The wood work is definitely custom not sure who made the stocks but the guy who put me onto this rifle done the checkering a couple of years ago

2nd is one that I got from the Wellington antique arms auction a couple of weeks ago
It’s a hollis and son’s sporting .577 snider
This is a stunning peice which went pretty cheap at the auction
It had a broken lock which is at the gunsmith being repaired hence it missing in the photo
The bore is a bit rough as most sniders are but will definitely be a shooter

Last another one picked up at the auction off the cuff i had no intention of buying this one until the bidding stalled and something told me to put my hand up strange when that happens but somehow those turn out and I’m
So glad I did shes a martini express rifle in 450 no1 black powder express
The outside if the rifle has been badly rusted but what was decried in the auction catalog as an “ok” bore has turned out to be an excellent bore after a clean and polish with autosol the action is very tight and it will be a fantastic shooter
I have a good mate who has made me some brass from 450-500 nitro express brass
Holds about 120gn of black powder so it’s a bit of a hand cannon

isn’t really blued anymore sadly it’s had a very tough life externally
But still worth putting her here as it’s an amazing rifle which im so glad to have got

Gee those top two rifles are really smart, as nice as any rifles that have ever been shown on the forum
