A few of mine
First up a couple of my dedicated fox spotlighting rifles. On the left is a L461 .17-222, Shilen barrel, Timney trigger, Kahles KX4.5-18x50. On the right is a Sako L461 .20-222, PacNor barrel, Maddco 3 lever trigger, Swaro Z6 2.5-15x56
Sako A1 .222, in this photo wearing an older Swaro 3-9x36 scope. Now has a Swaro Z3 3-10x42.
Anschutz 1532 .222, Zeiss Conquest 3-9x40
The Brno collection. At the front is a 601 chambered in 250 Myra (.25-222) wearing a Zeiss Conquest 3.5-10x44, centre is a Mod 2 chambered in 20 Myra Extruder (a squeeze bore that has a 22lr chamber, but squeezes the projie down to 20cal. It's wearing an old steel tube Weaver K6 in this photo, but currently has a steel tubed Meopta 6x with the parallax adjusted, and another Mod 2 in 22lr wearing a Leupy V3 2.5-8x36 with the parallax adjusted

That squeeze-bore concept was an interesting concept that never gained much commercial traction.
Myra dabbled with a lot of interesting stuff back in the 60's
too old to die young
A few more.
Rem 700 BDL varmint in .22-250, original stock with the bowling ball finish stripped off and a rubbed oil finish applied. Now has a modified factory stock - not as pretty but fits much better. The original stock is safely tucked away. The rifle has a Rifle Basic trigger and Swaro Z6 2.5-15x56.
Parker Hale .243 with custom stock. Currently wears a Zeiss Conquest 3-9x40 but I am on the hunt for a nice old 6x or 3-9x Kahles, Swaro or Meopta
Ruger M77/17 in .17hmr, Jard trigger and Loopy 3-9x33 EFR scope nice and low in Loopy rings

Best cat I've seen all week
too old to die young
I'd say your presuming alot. Hunters have always shot cats where they can and it pre-dates the latest predator free nonsense. Back to walnut/blued eh? Here's a nice 17hmr made by Larry Jackson custom rifles in Whangarei. He made the entire rifle except for the barrel. It is a work of art.

Lefty action of his own design. Also made the bottommetal:
