    Another option is for you to put your hand on a tikka/ sako barrel in 308, that you can get shortened and fitted to your current action while keeping the 30-06 spare. That way you can revert to the original configuration if you want to sell your rifle and keep a good value.
    Get a carbon stock for it and a lighter supressor and you are good to go.

    Ah. That changes the rules a bit. Don't know if I would want less gun than a 30-06 for a Sambar out to 300m, or even in close.
    20" barrelled 300WSM maybe?
