Exactly, they won't prosecute the poor fellow, he was doing it for public good to show how easy it is to get a pistol illegally (even so I don't believe the story one bit).

Don't think so - I've been in Auckland as long as I've had my FAL, and mine starts with T519 also.

Story made it to Prime News @ 17:30. Over in a flash, no drama in their presentation. Remains to see if TV3 makes a meal of it.

Many firearm licence numbers start with a "T". The first letter depends on when the holder originally obtained their licence.

I've never used a P2P and have no idea what one looks like.

I dont think it matters weather it a joke or not. Its still something thats not needed by law abiding firearms owners.

Using the PTP system is very simple and works well when both parties use it correctly.
The bigger concern for me is not the guy trying to buy these guns by breaking the law (This will always happen regardless) but the seller not following the system.
Really stupid.
If the seller followed the system correctly, the illegal buyer would most likely be with the cops already.

Agreed! This "collector" who sold the crim the pistol, ammo, etc. needs to be hung out to dry, as he committed a criminal act. So does HdPA, but I hear today that she won't be (Sunday Herald).What's wrong with this picture?
