WARNING ! Buying with a forged license

The person pictured on the altered/forged Firearms Licence recently purchased a pistol, magazines and several hundred rounds of .38 calibre ammunition from a licensed Whanganui collector. He purchased the pistol using cash ($850) and showed a licence with his photo inserted in the name of Trevor Williams JOHNS to the seller who took this photocopy.

The same person has also purchased a pistol in a similar transaction in Tauranga using a licence (same person pictured) in the name of James Michael YATES.

If anyone knows the name of the person in the photograph please contact D/Sgt Glenn TOY 021 1915451.

Please advise your dealers and collectors to be on alert for fraudulent cards. The frauds are easy to spot if you look for a true hologram, and on the later cards, the clear core clear areas.

I dont think it matters weather it a joke or not. Its still something thats not needed by law abiding firearms owners.

Any story that ends with "And no this isn't an April Fool's joke" has zero credibility.

Besides you need one or two more bits of documentation to purchase a Pistol than just a Dodgy Firearms Licence.

Although this story is also on the PNZ website.

    Cheers

Yeah but wait untill the media pick up on it. You don't need much imagination to guess what that HDPA maggot would do.

As pointed out by PNZ, we are required to use a P2P. I just omitted the original line in the message "The paperwork used is an application form for a permit to procure! Do not transfer any firearms for which you have not seen a legitimate permit to procure."

Message dated by PNZ of March 31st.

Agreed maybe it's not a hoax as the story is also on the PNZ website.

Surely the sellers (Bonafide Collectors) can tell the difference between a "Blue Application Form" and a "Pink Permit To Procure" form as they would have had to complete this same process and forms themselves as part of their Collecting Activities.

    Cheers

Blows my mind that someone who has used the forms before doesn't know how they work?
I've used them twice and I know exactly what is required?

Sorry, I don't believe anything in this story.
    Not today.

I think its an Aprils fools prank that has spread via social media and the more it spreads, the more the story gets embellished.
Once I see a genuine Police media release, then I might take it seriously.
    Welcome to Sako club.

I was emailed just now by our club president with a PNZ attachment.
If it is a prank it has gone viral😆

It's not an April fools joke, it's genuine, I saw it on the police intranet.

How the hell could any collector / endorsement holder be fooled by that licence unless you are blind? What of the P2P process? What the hell???????
