What a load of old bollocks that article was.
It takes 43 muscle's to frown and 17 to smile, but only 3 for proper trigger pull.
What more do we need? If we are above ground and breathing the rest is up to us!
Rule 1: Treat every firearm as loaded
Rule 2: Always point firearms in a safe direction
Rule 3: Load a firearm only when ready to fire
Rule 4: Identify your target beyond all doubt
Rule 5: Check your firing zone
Rule 6: Store firearms and ammunition safely
Rule 7: Avoid alcohol and drugs when handling firearms
I haven't read it and probably won't bother. Our firearms are not meant for the streets, but for the bush and wild places where their useage meets its legitimate purposes. Policing of street mongrels is the real issue, and keeping f--kin PC politicians, media and anti gun pricks out of the debate would be a constructive help .

Isn't it true though that the greatest majority of firearms are imported for recreational use, and that the more we import increases the likelihood of more ending up in the wrong hands? Maybe there are too many guns being imported and going into circulation?
I do understand the argument that criminals will get their hands on them through illegal avenues anyway, and that harsher rules only effect the law abiding, but when I look at those guns that were found in a ceiling by Police I do wonder why someone needed to import them in the first place?
Stricter importing controls and firearm tracking wouldn't worry me in the least if its going to help control the number of guns circulating in both the right and wrong hands.
I also support far stricter firearm application vetting.
That's only my opinion and I'm sure that there are valid contra arguments.
p.s. I haven't read the Stuff link

Stuff is to NZ Media what Donald Trump is to US politics
This utter twaddle isn't even worth thinking about

maybe they werent imported through the proper chanels so theres no record of them being here anyway if you can get large amounts of drugs in it shouldnt be to hard to get firearms in
It would not bother me one bit if all semi auto's were outlawed in NZ, including shotguns.
I like some of Trumps ideas and proposals but would prefer if someone else was in the running with them😆

Do what ya want! Ya will anyway.
Seriously? So because they are no use to you, no one should have them?
It's not the type of firearm thats at fault it's the knobends that use them unlawfully.
I know people that would do more damage with a bolt gun than any Tard has done with a semi in any mass shooting to date, if they flipped there lid.
I admit to not seeing semis being required for hunting but I love using them for other lawful pursuits.
And there are heaps of people that enjoy hunting with them so I would never want that privilage taken from them.

I thoroughly enjoy semi autos. I am thinking about getting my daughter a semi auto shot gun as her first firearm. Her A should be in the post soon.

Re: We have too many guns on our streets.
Ah ummm...far out I don't know where to start!
-A list of gun owners, their address and what guns are held there, to be made publicly available. WTF!!!!!!!!!!! No seriously WTF!!!!!!!! Hell, let's include people taking perception medication as well, so the P-heads can do a round trip to rob guns and morphine in the same voyage, after all this would be more sustainable for the environment if burglars use less carbon credits in their day to day robberies.
-In the wake of (then list historic cases all about 30 years ago).... hardly current affairs.
-some shit about hunting rabbits because nz is a rural community? Then tries to say we don't need anything bigger like a 7.62x39 (the calibre of an AK) because its overkill for rabbits. Ummmm again WTF!!!!!!! I hunt much larger animals than just rabbits. Surely he's aware that in nz we also hunt 7 species of deer, pigs, cattle, tahr, chamois, goats, sheep....not to mention target shooting.....etc.... all of which need a bigger calibre than a .22.
-Purposely calling guns Ak47 Or M16... when they are not.
Im all for gun control, but if someone is trying to tell me how to do something, they better know what they're talking themselves first.
