    Weatherby Vanguard bolt stop whoopsie

Hi Guys. Recently acquired Weatherby Vanguard .308 on trademe. Forum member put me onto it. Got it for great price. Hasn't been fired for 8 years, in really great nick. My young fellah picked it up, for him anyway. He stripped it as instructed. Discovered that bolt stop screw sheared in half and stop spring missing. Not going to mention it or kick up a fuss as bargain price anyway. Question though; has anyone else had a similar issue? If so how did you fix it? Looks like a real bitch to get sheared bolt out.
    Cheers

    Pics?

Assume this is the same as a Howa 1500.

If screw is sheared off flush with the receiver then you could try making a small indent to try and get a suitable flathead screwdriver to bite.

Either that or drill it out and replace with a larger screw. Spring is very small, could measure mine of need be, but suspect you could find a suitable replacement in a clicky ball point pen.

Rather than try find a spring to suit , a small piece of rubber works well . I lost the spring on a yugo mini mauser years ago and rubber worked a treat .

Good advice, but not flush unfortunately. Spring probably not an issue. Bolt abou 3mm diameter, gonna bitch to drill, but probably no alternative
