There used to be a gent in Auckland that repaired optical gear, but I doubt he is still in the business. I feel that with the issues sending the things away that there is an opening in NZ in this line of work.
I have dodgied it up in the past with a fogged scope by sealing it into a bag with rice and dessicant and vac packing it for a while then setting up a purge bag arrangement attached to an argon cylinder (welding shield gas). Vac purging the bag with the bits in it, then filling the bag with argon and reassembling the scope. Worked but you are relying on the seals being good etc which is where the dodgy part comes in. If a seal component is dodgy the thing will fog again fairly quickly.
