I suppose this has been asked many times already.
I am considering putting a suppressor on my .17HMR. As it is a heavy barrel Marlin I was hoping to keep size and weight to as much a minimum as possible while still being effective.
I have looked at most of the main brands available and are considering either a DPT or a Hardy mainly due to their light weights. Has anybody had any experiences with either or can advise which might be better or is it merely a "toss of a coin"?
I used a Gunworks stubby and was happy with that now have a MAE overbarrel. Use a SS baffle if using DPT.
I've got a couple of dpt and a hardy. I'd lean towards the dpt as it's easy to strip and clean and you can buy extra or replacement baffles too, got a stainless first baffle on My 223 one to resist erosion.
Had a gunworks stubby like maca, it was very good for the money, about a third or less of the others.
I've got a MAE muzzle can on mine, does the trick

Size wise they're small but on the heavier side but as you're already running a heavy barrel marlin would work well.

Much as I like the DPT suppressors, I'd have to put in a plug for the Gunworks stubby.
Only about 75mm long and does a great job. There's a pic of one included in my FS advert for
a CZ 17 in the buy sell section.
Another for the gunworks stubby, got a Dpt on the larger centrefire and they are nice and easy to strip and clean.
17hmr seems to be a calibre that suppressing makes a huge difference, it's a 'crack' rather than 'bang' to start with don't know if that makes a difference
We run a Dan Can o/b on our Quad. Very good.
+1 on the Gunworks. I have them on all my rim fires except the 10/22 which has a Bunny Buster integrated barrel. Even a .22 gunworks works well on the .17 (not so much the other way around ....)

Thanks guys for all your advice, I have just bought the above one on TM and am looking forward to using it when I get my rifle threaded.
Just for info, the Dpt rimfire suppressor 5 baffles is the one usually used for 17 hmr and is available not only in 1/2-20 and 1/2-28 but also in 5/8-24, 18x1 and 3/4-24 for those fat varmint barrels.
The stainless steel baffles are for centerfire cartridges in the center fire suppressor range .
Our older DUAL rimfire suppressor is .17 HMR approved and been sold to that calibre in big numbers, especially in the UK.
The public specs for the newer ECO rimfire suppressors have not yet been updated to include .22 WMR and .17 HMR, but they will be shortly, as we have now tested it with those calibres as well.
