    What .22lr to buy

Asking for a friend , I haven’t brought a .22 for over 20 yrs so I’m no expert , he’s looking to spend max $1500 scoped / suppressed which should be enough to get a nice little set up , there are plenty on the yellow site , mostly for sale from GC though , what would you buy if you had a choice at the moment ?

What type of shooting does he intend to do with it?

CZ457 could be a nice option if he waits for the right deal to show up.

Lithgow LA101's are quite "big" 22s but supremely accurate (Annie match/vudoo class accurate) and excellent "cross over" hunting/target ergonomics.

I don't own one, but it would be hard to go past a T1X wouldn't it? Factory 16" barrel. A little over-budget if scoped and suppressed.

I just sold a bergarra bmr 22LR, as I went to a semi for comps.
But the bergerra is definitely value for money, bonus is it takes remington 700 triggers

Ive had both the Bergara BMR and Tikka T1x, dont have either anymore and wouldnt bother trying another of each. Neither are especially smooth in the action, a bit "click clack". Neither if the examples I had would really shoot, so any purchase is subject to the "barrel lottery". The Tikka has issues with ejection and breaking firing pins (mine was OK).

I also sold my CZ457 but it was an excellent rifle, very good trigger, reliable and extremely accurate. And with a 457 if you do happen to get a barrel that wont shoot replacements are readily available and dead easy to fit. Id have another CZ 457 in a heartbeat.

I haven't shot many different .22's so my opinion isn't worth much. I bought a standard CZ452 for $700 and put a $400 scope on it and i've really enjoyed it so far. Fantastically accurate and reliable.

make sure it has the normal straight stock not the hog back type that has a lower cheekwield which is a pain in the ass when trying to use a scope

I should know better but still ended up with one

When I had that kind of budget I bought an annie. More accurate than I will ever be.

    Either a CZ457 or T1x.
I'm a bit of a Tikka fanboy but I think the CZ is probably the way to go, however if either comes up in the buy/sell section then I'd jump on it.

I have a CZ 452 chopped to 15" with a Yo-Dave trigger upgrade. I also treated it to an over-barrel suppressor for no good reason other than I wanted one. It's a laser! The only thing I don't like is the back-to-front safety. I'm not overly keen on the wooden stock either. I put a Limbsaver on it to increase LOP and it's functional. In an ideal world, I'd get a chassis or at least an adjustable stock for it, but that boat has sailed.
