Yeah mate, can't complain at all. It's never let me down when I do my part. I looked at going .284 (have a spare 7/08 barrel), but gave up on that idea... for now.

Current load holds 1000ft lbs and still 1700fps odd at well over 700 yards 😅

If you want a twiddly bit more power then you can fiddle around with a new powder like RL of Vihtavouri or maybe minor case tweak like AI or a bolt stop stretch .

If you want significantly more power then you need a bigger fatter case like the WSM or RemMag. In which case you need a new action and can choose what you like.

I have seen .284 Win done on Remington short actions, but it’s limited as you say.
7-08 AI is said to be a pretty good solution.
